    Ways of Seeing.

A student I liked was building a model a liked. In architecture school that is a recipe for a delicious conversation. I was curious about the project…It looked like it could be a train station…interesting as there is a studio about train stations, but this wasn't it. The conversation led me through the process of program, form, and structure. When I looked at the computer the model. I noticed that the project was upside down. Literally 180 degrees different from the model that was being built. When I asked about that, I was told that the teacher suggested that the whole building might work better, if it was flipped. And it did. The heavy parts became light. The light parts became heavy. There were more interesting and unexpected moments in it. File under ways of seeing.
